Well, the snow is finally gone and it has rained a couple times to wash the inch of salt from the roads. I decided to take the Mean"O" out for a spin, First thing that happened when I backed her out of the garage, the right front wheel locked and dragged the first time I touched the brakes. I hate drum brakes, Ill have to look at that and see whats amiss. So I take her down the road, Man that felt good! all is well but it seemed a little sluggish, Whatever right, I'm cruising in the Elky for the first time this year and got a few looks and a thumbs up:D God I love old cars. The sluggish thing is bugging me so I head home and put the timing light on it. Low and behold, I have 0 degrees at idle So I crank her up to about 10 btdc and take her out around the block, Woo Hoo now thats more like it. Funny thing is the car ran perfect when I put it up at the end of October and I haven't been under the hood all winter. Does cold weather retard timing? This is not the first time the distributor monkeys have shown there ugly faces.
I helped a friend of mine get his new 454 up and running in his 55 chevy, we got everything hooked up fired it and broke in the cam, all is well, shut it down and called it a night. so I went back over the next day and met him after work, lets take it for a spin, so we hop in crank it and it won't start. Its popping back thru the carb like the distributor was 180 out, guess what? It was 180 out.
Nobody touched the car overnight! Distributor monkeys I tell you:wacko:
