Just lost my windshield while driving to the transmission shop to work out a bug with that thing.

Anyways it's a 71 and the cracks are bigger than a quarter so it will probably need to be replaced. So can you get a windshield for a 71' from the usual places like you do for a daily driver. Or am is this going to be a specialty ordered item? If you can get one from places like safelite etc etc. This thing easy enough to install or do I need to track someone down who knows what they are doing?

P.S. Yes I did search the forums. For some reason I type in windshields and was pullking up threads in the wheels and tires forums.

A good quality PPG or Pilkington windshield will cost around $150 at your local auto glass dealer. They are easy to install but will require a helper. You'll find lots of threads on the subject if you use the search function.

I got a no-name windshield for my '72 at a local glass shop. It cost $155 installed.

Some moron (previous owner or perhaps a used car dealer) installed a cheap Chinese windshield on my Lumina before I bought the car.

The windshield was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL at the point when I signed the papers to buy the car.

Within a year, it's so bad (tons of tiny chips) I figured it should be replaced. I've had the car two years, there's a crack that goes across the glass from the right lower corner almost to the right upper corner.

You buy cheap glass, you'll be VERY LUCKY if you get what you pay for.

Auto City Classic or any local Pilkington dealer or Pilkington Classics.
