according to my book KL is either 66 or 67 chevelle 12 bolt with 4.10s and metallic brakes.

there should be a casting date on the center section of the housing. look at the rear cover, where the axle tubes meet the center section you will see some strengthening webs. located on one of these webs you will find a raised casting date.

I found what looks like A2_7 the blank could be a 4 or any thing else so I assume it is a 67 housing ,Am I correct?
Thank you

Bill,

If the spring perches are flat steel pads where the springs sit, then its for a 1966 (these used a bolt-on spring retainer)...

If the coil spring perches are "inverted cups" that fit up inside the spring (about 1/2") than its a 1967...

That casting number on the center section does not look like any 1967 Chevy 12-Bolt number I have seen. The numbers I have are: 3859140 for 1965, 3875745 for 1966, and 3894939 for 1967. The GM 4.10 ring gear should have the p/n 3862526 stamped into it. Pinion is 3862514.
