Hi, I tried to do a search but didn't find anything on this. Are there any other years or models that are identical to the 70 SS Chevelle dashbord? Is the Monte Carlo the same texture? Or any other years / models- '71 or '72? I am going to Carlisle and will be looking for another dashbord and pad in black.

The Monte's have a woodgrain finish. They stick out like a sore thumb on a Chevelle. I believe that the 71-72 will interchange but the later 72's have a seatbelt warning light.

I will tell you what I know from past experience, 70-72 chevelle dashes are the same as far as texture etc. The later model (72) MAY have a seatbelt warning light somewhere near the ashtray if I remember correctly. It is a rectangle with rounded corners about 2" x 1/4". Obviously this would be wrong for the 70. Monte Carlo dashes work from the same years, but they have small holes punched throughout the dash that are not seen when the monte woodgrain cover is added. I have been told some of the monte dashes do not have the holes, but I have yet to see one. You may find the Monte dashes also have some "luxury" options like under dash lighting. Which is kind of neat, but would not be correct. As far as qauges, the only difference that I am aware of is the gauges in 70 had a green shade to them and in 71 and 72 they were blue tinted. I am not really sure the exact specifications as far as the tach redlines for the differnet model engines, but I am sure there are postings. I would probably suggest a repo dash and possibly gauges. It may be costly now, but by the time you have pieced it together it will have been worth it. The repo dashes are pretty good except for a little adjustments needed around the glove box. - Dan

Actually i have read on this forum that a few chevelles came with the woodgrain insert just like the monte carlo.
