I have a 72 Chevelle 4dr with the 307 and it is stock with a 2bbl. The 2bbl needs replaced or rebuilt. I figured instead of spending $$ on rebuild I could go to a 4bbl. Since I wanted to anyway. I just don't know what parts will work. I was online looking at Summit but there are a lot of Carbs on there. I know I also need a manifold. I just want to get a manifold and carb. that will bolt onto the 307 and then get it tuned. Any help with part #'s would be great. I am looking for the cheapest setup. I am not planning on upgrading the 307 but hopefully will put this stuff onto a 350 eventually. Still I am not going to go crazy with horsepower ever. So what should I get. I am trying to spend less than what the mechanic wanted to charge me for replacing the 2bbl which I could do myself anyway.
Also, anyone know which 2bbl came in this car? If the cost is too great then I may just try and find a rebuild kit and wait on the 4bbl till later. It is my daily driver and I need to get it running soon so advise would be great. I hope I gave enough info. I tried a search but didn't find what I needed really.

youll really love a 4 barrel more on your daily driver. if your not into tuning carbs, edlebrock is the way to go as they are set right out of the box. if you don't mind tuning your carb, then a holley is the way to go. check for used ones that someone has rebuilt on craigslist.

if your into doing it yourself and really cheap, dont rebuild the 2bbl, go to a junkyard, swap meet, ebay or craigslist and buy a dirty holley 4bbl for $35, clean and rebuild it, and you have a nice working carb that you can show off your handywork with. thats what i ended up doing and i wouldn't have done it another way (im a beginner too and it was great learning).
