I would like your opinions and comments about my combo:
454 MKIV 2-bolt main block (bored +.30)
"781" oval port heads 2.19/1.88 valves
Edelbrock performer RPM intake
Keith Black pistons #KB-257 Details (http://www.kb-silvolite.com/performance.php?action=details&P_id=117) (approx 10.2:1 CR)
Holly 850 Dbl pmpr w/ mech secondaries
Cam (need suggestions/part#) hydraulic roller ?
MSD billet "ready to run" distributor
Mallory 6AL
Carter 172 mechanical fuel pump
Muncie M-21
12-bolt posi 3.73 gear
1.75" headers to bullets

I'm looking for a guesstimate on horsepower and maybe E.T. (range)

Thanks for any opinions and ideas graemlins/waving.gif

This is very close to my combo except I mine is a 427 punched .060. I went with the 274S Comp cam. M-20 w/ 3.55 rear. I have been told about 500hp/tq. I would think you will do a little better on hp/tq. I see you are going with an 850 cfm carb ( I was going to go with a tweaked 750) so it will be interesting what others have to say. I haven't fired mine yet (about 2 months away) so it will be interesting to see what others have to say. Either way I think both of us will have big ol grins on our faces :D when all is said and done. good luck and let me know if you get there first! ;)

Sounds good, no negative comments so far ;)

I think both of us will have big ol grins on our faces when all is said and done Thats a fact !! Especially if I can break into the 11's when the time comes.

I was looking at the Lunati cams website and found a Voodoo 60204LK grind that sounded like the perfect match for my motor. I'll post the question to Harold.

Thanks and keep the comments coming.

i have built almost the same exact motor as you. my combo is 454 bored .030. 4 bolt main ,steel crank, dimple rods,kb#207 pistons with speedpro file fit rings. balanced dampner to flexplate. block was torque plate honed but not decked. heads are 781 with mild bowl cleanup and 2.19-1.88 valves. extreme energy 274H cam topped by a C-396 intake and holly 750 dp. exhaust is 2" primary headers and dual 3" flowmaster muff's. it seems to lay down at about 5800 rpm. i'm thinking rpm air gap and proform main body may help along with a better fuel pump. i wish i went with a solid cam but this runs pretty strong and generates 12-13" of vacuum at 800 rpm idle in gear.
my friend took a stock 9-1 454 boat motor and added a .575 lift hydraulic roller with performer rpm 750 holley marine carb. small headers. runs 1170-11.90 with B&M 10" converter and 3.73 gears with slicks. its in a 79 monte carlo street car. good luck mike

John, I'm also doing a similiar build up:
454 / .30 over
2-bolt
cast crank, manley H beams, JE pistons 12.8:1, victor jr. 825 race demon, Comp XR288R solid roller 248/254 653/660 lift, 781's ported and port matched w/ 2.19/1.88 stainless valves, msd billet dist/ 6AL, 2" hooker super comps, edelbrock alum water pump, th400 w/ stage III, 4.10 gears, 3400 lbs w/ driver in a 69 chevelle. The desktop dyno says 650+ hp and 600 lb.ft. The car runs 12.2 w/ the sbc on the motor and 11.4 w/ NO2 (150 shot). I'm hoping for mid 10's on the motor. I'm about 2 months away from having this in, Can't wait!

I too have a similar combo,
454 .030 over, KB .133 dome pistons, 781's 2.19/1.88 valves, port/polish. Isky 286 Hydraulic cam, RPM Air gap and a Quick Fuel 750 Drag race carb. Made 435 hp @5500 and 506 lb/ft@4000. Really flat torque curve, started at 2900 with 470lb/ft and didn't drop below 450 until 6000. I can't wait to drive it!

Real world...LS5, 290 heads cc'd. Comp cams 564 lift, 304 duration. Edelbrock torquer intake, 850 double pumper, mechanical secondaries. Stock AC fuel pump. Hooker 2 1/8 primary with 3 1/2 collector. Shift point...6500 rpm and it pulled all the way there. This is very close to what you are building. Original M22 with 3.73 posi. These cars are heavy! 3.73 gears are not deep enough to launch with good slicks. I had 900. 26x 14 wrinkle walls and had to run 15 - 18 psi to prevent immediate hook up. An engine with a cam that doesn't pull strong until 3,000 rpm is going to dog bad off the line with 3.73 and a good hook. Usually grabbing 4th gear about 100-150 ft before the lights, not much time for anything to happen in 4th. Ran 12.90's Your car will be fast, but if you want low 12's, you will need 4.10 gears to get there. An M20 would help too.
