In 71 were the bullet mirrors standard or option on a SS ? Is anybody making a good repro or what is available ? Right remote AND left manual or what ?

Remote mirrors were standard on SS cars. I believe the Bullet mirror was an option over the standard remote mirrors on '71 and '72 cars. I have seen several dist. selling repo bullet mirrors, left and right side. I would assume they are made by the same mfg.

Classic Muscle had them but are now showing as discontinued. I will do some digging but I know I saw someone offering the RH bullet mirror. Possibly Hinshaw.....

The RH mirror is definetly NOT original. Original RH (passenger) side did not have studs to mount to door. They used the bracket like the drivers side mirror.

The only optional outside mirror listed in Chevrolet's 'Accumulative Production/Final Model Year Reports' is the D33 remote left hand mirror - standard on the SS. See http://www.chevellestuff.com/1971/options.htm. No right hand mirror is shown but could have been a dealer installed accessory item. They always had stuff like that in the showcases at parts counters. FWIW, no right hand mirror is shown for 70, 71, or 72 in the reports that I find.
Right remote AND left manual or what? Left (driver) side mirror D33 was remote, not the no RPO number found right mirror.

Previously discontinued due to horrible fit, new ones are supposed to fit better but I do not know first hand.

I am looking for an original set.... a friend of mine thinks he has a set for me. Can someone please post some detailed pictures of these Bullitt Style mirrors.
