Can any one tell me when installing hedman headers 68198 BB chevelle 1972 auto trans.. Do you have to lift the drivers side of the engine to install, if you have the car on a lift? If anyone can remember I would appreciate a reply, Thanks again. Gary

I dont know the heddman headers, but every BB drivers side header I have installed required the car to be at least up on ramps so the header could be put in from below. Some would go in without jacking up the engine but you may need to remove the oil filter. I normally lay the drivers side header in the engine bay during engine install to do everything in one step but it can be done afterwards.

Probably but all you have to do is remove the driver's side motor mount bolt only and lift the engine just enough to get the header up and through.
Have sum fun.

You can use a floor jack or bottle jack.

gnunzio,
I installed these very headers on my 67. You need to raise the drivers side of the motor. I couldn't get the stock manifold out until I did. Also needed to remove the oil filter (mine is the old cannister type). Remove the trans mount bolts, and the motor mount bolt. I put a short piece of 2 X 4 on my floor jack, and with the car on jack stands, put the wood on the oilpan rail and raised the motor a couple of inches, and it went right in from below. The passenger side went in from below without any such manipulations. It really isn't hard, just takes a few extra minutes.I really liked the fit of these pipes.

Phocks thanks for the advise, mine being a 1972. It looks as if my exhaust manifold will come out without raising the engine. So maybe the header will fit in also thanks for the post!
Gary.
