Can I use a 71 Chevelle p.s. box? Is there a difference in centerlinks and pitman arms? I did this years ago to a '68 and it seems to me that the taper in the centerlink that goes into the pitman arm was either smaller or bigger??? Thanks TC

Thanks TCCan't help on the 71 box, it may physically bolt up but later boxes may also have different fittings which would require adapters. My Hollander's lists 64-69 and 70-72 on P/S boxes. On the 64-69 applications it does show the 70-72 boxes fit.

I don't show a difference in center links from 65-67 but the pitman arm is different between 65-67 manual (part # 5693762 & cast #5693761) and factory power steering (part #5693764 & cast #5693763) units - different taper I believe.

Then there's the task of getting right type pump (SB and BB are different setups), brackets, pulleys, etc.

I have a '71 power steering box on my 64, just needed the pitman arm and rag joint for power rather than manual box. Bolted right up, no problems to an original center link. Hope this helps. 64elkynss
