: interesting parking lights
HerrKooled Apr 15th, 08, 10:58 PM so i went to the local parts store to pick up some new turn signal/parking lamps, and the only ones they had in stock were these odd rainbow colored bulbs. i thought what the heck, i'll try them. they give off a blueish purple color through the clear parking lesnes, i've attached some pictures so you can see. it's kind of diffrent. now the kicker is, they glow a bright vivid amber/orange, much more so then my regular amber/orange colored bulb in the other signal. This i did like, so i will keep these in.

Bowtie70ss Apr 15th, 08, 11:34 PM I run those Silverstar bulbs in the DRL socket and parking light socket of my Silverado SS. I love the way they look and they are very bright.
bluechevelless Apr 16th, 08, 12:01 AM if you stand aways back can you see the blue?
jc67 Apr 16th, 08, 12:52 AM I think I will try those in my truck as well

barely, if you don't know to look for it you will not see it. when the lights are on there is no trace of any color other then orange/amber, which is considerably brighter then average. i don't mind that, the more attention the better i don't need somone hitting me.
HerrKooled Apr 17th, 08, 12:38 AM Dave is correct, they are the Silverstar lights. they also supposedly last like 8 times longer then a normal replacement light.

Dont know about that...I run them in two of my vehicles and one light in each vehicle went in about a year (a year is the stated bulb life on the Silverstar website and they recommend replacement even if not bad at the one year mark)
Handling with you bare fingers and leaving any kind of oil on them from your skin will shorten up life. Always clean them with rubbing alcohol and a Qtip first and install wearing gloves.
Just my own experience.

as i figured, the salesguy mentioned this to me, but that is somthing to take with a grain of salt hense "supposedly"
didn't use rubbing alcohol, but always use a wire brush to make sure there isn't any corrosion inside of the socket along with using electrical grease when putting the bulb in.

I like them and they look darn sharp on your car. I dont want to be a "downer" or anything like that. :)
I will continue to run them and wont hesitate to get them again myself. They work well, for sure.
cs40racing Apr 18th, 08, 3:01 AM I've been looking at these, I do want to get the clear lenses but they are low on my priority list right now. :)
