: 49cc scooter won't run without choke on?
Alwhite00 Apr 15th, 08, 8:22 PM I know, Not a chevelle but here goes. I just got a 49cc scooter (cheap $20.00) and it runs great but the choke has to be about 3/4 on in order for it to have any power. I see that there is an adjustment screw but it does not seem to do anything when I turn it. The scoot works fine with the choke on but I am trying to get it "right" Any ideas?

CRUZN69 Apr 15th, 08, 8:40 PM OK, what kind is it?
jloshotz Apr 15th, 08, 9:08 PM Sounds like the main jet could be clogged.....Did you take the carb apart and clean it? Sounds like the choke being on is acting as enrichment....I'd bet a good cleaning would take care of it.....at least it did for me 4 out of 5 times. Give it a shot =]

Alwhite00 Apr 15th, 08, 10:18 PM Thanks, I'll do that. Do I need to disassemble it or can I just spray it down good?
It's a Razor Back G-Scooter. Chinese deal, Got it cheap so I thought whatthe heck. I am suprised that it actually pulls me as I am about 225. Has front & rear disc brakes. I actually bought 2 of them.
It looks like this except it has a wood deck instead of the aluminum.

Chevy fan attic Apr 15th, 08, 10:54 PM lol Al,
We own His and Her Go peds. Of course I up graded to the big 60 cc motor.
We have a fun on those bad boys. Mine will go about 25. Hers goes a little faster but she is 118 and I am 180.
Enjoy and be careful.
Dave Hopkins Apr 16th, 08, 1:58 PM Is that a two stroke or four stroke? If two stroke it may have a pumper carb like a chain saw, if so I doubt you would be having this issue as they are fairly plug up proof.
Other two stroke and any four stroke, you have a plugged pilot jet! Forget the main jet, they are too big to plug, the pilot is probubly about 15 thousands of an inch (tiny) and if they are not run for a couple months gas in the bowl evaporates leaving a varnish residue that will leave a several thou thick coating on everything. For illistration lets say the main jet is 80 thou, pilot 15 and varnish 5. The varnish coats both sides so the pilot is plugged almost solid, the main is reduced maybe 10-12 percent. Once flowing the coating in the main washes clean, the pilot will not flow squat so it needs to be soaked in lacquer thinner overnight. Poking wire thru a jet this small is a no no and if anyone sugests a torch tip cleaner call them a hacker.
OLDED Apr 16th, 08, 2:41 PM Now - before we can all over analyze this crisis, what is the bore, stroke, compression ratio, cam lift, carb size, tire size, color of your grandma's panties, timing setting, advance curve, your first born's hair color, etc.

C'mon Ed, we both know that the only way that thing will run right is on Chinese gas.
Alwhite00 Apr 16th, 08, 9:35 PM Well I got it running good. I took the carb off, Took the needle out & opened the throttle up and sprayed it with carb cleaner. The main problem I found was that the choke on/off that is molded in the cover is backwards, When it says off it is actually closed, No wonder it ran great with the choke "on" - Apparently the on & off was lost in the translation. :D
It is a 2 stroke BTW - Don't know how many cc though.
