Ok So I Don't Have A Jack For the Car - and Now we are going On a Longer Than Normal Cruise. I Have Always Thought That If we Got A Flat I Would Just Call A Tow Truck and he would Certainly Have a Jack To Change a Flat Tire. But That Is Just Crazy - Where Can I Get A Good Jack For Our 1970 Chevelle

No Not A Bumper Jack though

Late model G.M.s have a jack that fits the holes in my 70 driver. The holes I am speaking of are the two in the front behind the tire at the bend in the frame and the two holes in front of the rear tire.
It is a super jack, and jacks my 70 wagon up just fine. Its kinda like a scissors jack. It is like a horizontal bumper jack, with a scissors configuration. This is the jack to get, I am happy with mine and it is not large. I speak the truth, This is not a jack job
It was $ 10.00 at a bone yard. with the lug wrench (metric I think)

We have a jack kit in a plastic case. Floor jack, wheel chocks, and Light, all in a manageable case. The old bumper jacks were a recipe for disaster, especially on the side of the highway where the ground is usually uneven.

Bob, how about a picture of the jack you have?

The jack of which Bob speaks will usually be found in the trunk of any 80-85 'G' body car. Look for a Grand Prix, Monte Carlo, Regal or Cutlass. By appearance, they could have been made just for our cars.

Yes the later rear wheel drive jacks work well. It looks like a bumper jack laying on its side made into a floor jack. The lifting pad is made to fit into the round access hole for the body mount bolt. I believe that late model Caprice/Roadmaster use them as well.

I have 2 of the Craftsman 30.00 jacks and work perfect for me. Not too big or heavy, nice case, and cheap enough. 64elkynss

Hey, just send that hood to me and get it out of the way. It all comes under the heading of "spring clean-up".
