My restoration project on my 69 has been put on hold for while due the loss of my Dad (the one person who truely inspired my love of cars) . I have also been put in charge of selling his 70 Malibu. He has had it for 25+ years and the car has an original 307 motor. It now has a 4 barrel Rochester carb, and the original 3 speed "on the tree" has been replaced with a Muncie 4 speed floor shifter. The original 10 bolt rear and gears are in the car. I'm guessing they are probably 308 or 331 gears. It does have dual exhaust with mellow mufflers and SS tips. Body and paint are very good - an 8 out of 10. Fathom Blue with white SS stripes and body work was done professionally back in the late 80s. All of the badging has been shaved. Black interior bench seat. It has a set of Ansen slot wheels on BFG white letter tires, and rides at stock hieght. Drum brakes all around, non A/C, non vinyl top. The car is mostly original and has not been molested at all. My guess would be in the 15-20k range, but your opinions are more than welcomed. I will take some pictures this weekend. Thanks.

Mark, sorry about your dad-its tough losing a parent. about the car, I would put the value on that car at 10-12K. just my 2 cents worth. lets see what others weigh in at. Norman

Mark,
It's a low option car with just the basics. A good driver like this would be in the range Norman stated. The emblems being shaved and the applied stripes take a little away from the originality.

Mark, sorry about your dad. My condolences. I would say with the current (crappy Bush) economy, 8-15k depending of what kinda of environment you're in; e.g. eBay, live auction, consignment dealer, etc... Good luck man............

Thanks guys. It is hard not to tack some emotional attachment to the price. Down deep I don't want to sell it. I also realize it is hard to appraise a car just on description. I will take some pics, and see what happens.

I finally got the car out from storage this weekend, and will take some pictures any day now. I put a "For Sale" sign in the window and got a lot of attention in only a few hours (just in my driveway). I can already tell this isn't going to be fun.........The most annoying and popular questions are:
1. Is it a real SS? .....umm, not at this price NO.
2. Is it numbers matching? Yes, but since it is a 307, does it really matter to you?
3. My favorite......Does it have a Hemi in it? WTF, I'm not going to answer those anymore.

I will post some pics in the classified section soon.

I know what you're going through, I was down this road myself in February. It's not easy to deal with the loss of a father, then have to make decisions such as this. I am fortunate enough to not have to sell off any of my father's possessions that he left behind.
From what you have described about the car, 10K-12K is in the high range for that car. I think more realistically 8K-10K.

I certainly don't know your circumstances, but I would say keep it if at all possible. In the long run it will be worth more to you than it's worth on the market. Sorry about your Dad, I lost mine less than a year ago so I know how you feel. Maybe give it a little time before you decide.

Thanks for the laughs and the condolences. I am really starting to think that it would be better to keep it for now with the prices so low.

Just heard a new question :
Is that real dual exhaust, or just a cat-back system?

Sorry about your dad Mark.
I agree with Dave. If at all possible, I'd keep it. At least for a couple months until the emotions settle down. This way 1. You won't have sellers remorse, Wishing you never sold "Dads" car. And 2. The market stabilizes.

By the way. Very nice looking car!!!!!
