Swapped in an SS dash on my 71 Malibu. Had the dash harness (from SS idiot light car, rewired). My ??-what type sensor do I use to get the temp gauge working? Does the idiot light sensor function the same as the gauge sensor, difference being the type connector, spade v/s pin? Or is it on-off v/s linear? The engine bay harness is the 71 Malibu w/idiot lights if that helps. Rewiring would not be a problem! Thanks to all, have a Happy New Year!

The guage packages take a completely different sensor than the indicator light, and will not interchange. Any good auto parts store will have a listing for the proper sensor for year and engine application. My NAPA store has listings for all the sensors, light and guage.
