I was looking for a low cost stroker kit and i came a cross this kit it has SCAT CAST 4.250 CRANK,SCAT 6.135 PRESS CAP RODS AND KB FLAT TOP 9:5-1 CR WITH 118CC HEADS, i was looking to build up my 454 and was thinking of getting this kit its around $900 , i know it not for monster HP because its a cast crank , but it sounds good ??? as of now i have a set of 781 ported heads 1.190 /1.88 valve and a good block
but not sure if this is a good deal or a wast of money. RPM MACHINE is the shop that is selling the kit what do you think????

If you're looking to build an engine primarily for street duty, you should be fine. When I built mine, I wanted a little more durability. I used a kit from Speed-O-Motive. It was $1195 and had longer rods and forged Probe pistons. www.speedomotive.com (http://www.speedomotive.com)

Off hand, I only know of a couple guys running 496 motors, both have their cars set up with race chassis. I would be interested to talk to someone that runs a 496 with basically a warmed over stock chassis to see how it handles the power.
