Hey guys. I have a 71 where the horn works very weakly for a few seconds then stops. Any suggestions?

Are you getting constant power or no power at the horns after it stops?

just test them across a car battery. if they don't work ,shake them and listen to the rust inside. Most of them used the PN 279&280. Gary

Try a volt meter attached to the lead on top of the horn, and see if voltage drops after the horn button is pressed. If the voltage drops near zero when the horn should be playing, the supply from the steering wheel is current limited, or the horn is poorly grounded.

the supply from the steering wheel is current limited, or the horn is poorly grounded.

Supply comes from the horn relay, when steering wheel button is pushed, it supplys ground to relay, turning relay on.
