I was wondering how the aftermarket base is set up as far as how the storage lid latches are set up. On original consoles the 68 has no lock or latch at all, the 69 has the spring loaded ball and latch at front of the storage compartment and the 70-72 have the keyed lock with latch on the side of the storage compartment. I see that they offer a 68 lid, a 69 lid and a 70-72 lid but most places offer only the one base. Are the bases set up to take both latch set ups? Are they not drilled for a latch period ( such as for a 68 ) and you have to drill your own? It doesn't make sense to offer three different style lids and then only offer the base in one configuration.
