Hey guys, this is a pretty easy looking install but I have one concern. Lets not talk about the green and black as those go to the coil or dist. but with the white and red wires, the red goes to ignition 12v and the white goes to 12v dash lighting. I have all my other autometers hooked up through my ignition wire so it gets the power and the ignition all in one when I turn on my car. Should I wire in the white or red, or is this not a good set up?

I wired my tach up to the terminal on the fuse box that only comes on with the ignition. The only thing coming off my ignition terminal is the 10 gauge wire running to my HEI. The other white wires(lights) I made a terminal to wrap around the fuse so the lights come on with my light switch. It's kind of rigged right now, but I'm tearing the dash out this winter to redo it so I try to think of something better. I don't know if you want the gauge lights coming on though everytime you turn the car on.

I have a sport comp that was similar to that. The red wire goes to the ignition, this gives the tach power and retains the last rpm when the car is shutoff. The tach doesn't have power until you put the key in accessory. The white wire just makes the litle light bulb turn on. Hook that up to your instrument panel lights. So you can dim it along with your other lights with the headlight switch. It grounds itself either with one wire comming off it or to itself.

You can wire them in parrallel btw. Wire the red to your other gauges, won't affect anything. Thats how i did it in the burban and thats been doing great for a couple of years.
