: Carter 172 Fuel Pump Question

I'm looking at buying a Carter 172 fuel pump for my SBC, Summit has a good price of $74.

My problem is the -10 inlet fitting that is installed on the pump. My inlet line will be a steel tube 1/2" line, and it looks like I'd have to jury-rig some goofy adaptors to get it to fit my fuel line. Can the -10 fitting be removed? If so, can I install a -8 fitting? What adaptor do I need?

Great. Is it a pipe fitting in the pump? What size?

Matt,

I just hooked to the -10 and -8 fittings already on my pump when purchased.

I am pretty sure the threads are 3/8 but not tapered pipe thread. The fittings are straight thread and take a fuel pump fitting or an AN fitting with the flare on the end cut off. I have a SB 172 pump at home and will verify this for you tonight.
