: ET's on the combo!!

After thrashing to get the car together this weekend, i finished up the loop i was building late last night, and had it installed around 2:00am.
Unfortunetly i missed my first time shot, but the 2nd time shot i made a decent pass.
Having never driven a "fast" car down the strip before i messed up my burnout.

The 1st et yeilded a 12.69 @ 108
the 60ft, slow for my liking was a 1.79.

Understandably so, with a screwed up burnout and track temps over 140 degrees.

I left the car untouched, did not tune anything, except taking the air cleaner off, and in 1st round i red lighted so i decided to take her home.
The ET:
12.33 @110.5mph
1.7960ft

Shifting at a low 5500rpms, and taking it through the traps at 6000rpms.

I weighed the car as well, i was shocked with the weight. Me in the car, it still only weighed 3260lbs.
Completely steel, steel hood, iron heads, copper/brass radiator, full interior, steel front wheels, 12 bolt, th-350, and driver.

Oh, and i cant wait to start tuning this thing :D

Some speculated quicker ET's, but for being "out of the box" i'm proud of what it turned, no less in probably the worst air we've had all season, with 98 degree heat.

Add 620 Lbs to the car and get back in touch with me. ;)

Seriosuly though. Nice run. What is the compression and cam for that BSE setup? Are those iron heads a chevy product?

Nice first outing, Brian. HAving raced myself this weekend I'm sure the weather even up your way wasn't great. You'll be in the 11's in no time.

Motor Martyr
Jul 11th, 04, 8:28 PM
thanks guys, depending on the calculator the compression comes out to 9.8 to 10.02

The cam is a solid f/t Crower grind, 242/248 dur at .050" on a 108LSA, and 274/282 dur adv. and .482/.504" lift.

Thanks guys, i dont want to speculate, but i think good air will grant me the ET's i am looking for!

I should add that those are the shallow numbers i posted, staging deep i turned a 12.43 @110.5

Some dont like posting the "shallow" numbers, but it is what it is.

Around these parts, we cannot deep stage, so the shallow numbers are appreciated.

 ..... What octane fuel are you running? Whats your game plan for tuning?

Motor Martyr
Jul 11th, 04, 9:41 PM
93, i might start to mix it, just to be on the safe side while tuning the combo.

I plan to get the car consistant before playing with anything. Without a consistant test bed i dont know what effect the minute changes make.

After which i plan to do timing, jetting, power valve, pump cam, and secondary spring "loops".

thanks Bob!

Very nice indeed for the first time out. It will only get better from here. How the heck did you get that car to weigh so little with you in it? You used the scale on the return road at E-town? Right where they do the fuel checks?

BB Mike: "Add 620# and get back to me". LMAO :D

Motor Martyr
Jul 12th, 04, 8:09 AM
yeah on the return road.

I didnt do anything special to the car to get it that light.
My trans crossmember is my version which is much lighter, and my exhaust system is very light, but i'm amazed that the car is this light.

Nice Brian.

Your weight seems normal for a basic Camaro. Before my heavy exhaust and rollbar, my strip street car weighed 3160 with a full tank. Without me.

I couldnt find a set of DOT slicks to barrow, Rick lent me these. I heard a few people were "upset" about it.
I'm going to try and get a set of DOT legal tires before the next point outing.

In the mean time, Rick lent me these so i can use them as much as i need.

Thanks for the compliments Lonnie.
