hey I'd thought I'd stop in say hello to everyone out there. I am in the process of being a new Chevelle owner, previously a Camaro owner and am excited as can be as most of you can relate. It's an all stock (except paint) SS 396 70 Chevelle w/bench seat (I know, I know). It's a clean car and it off the original owner. The only problem is that it has a Salvage title but he has pics from the damage and repair and doesnt seem to be very bad. but then again that was back in 1993 when these cars had no real value and the insurance companies would just salvaged them. what do you think? should i go thru with the sale?

Welcome Aboard!!
For a 40 year old car I personally wouldn't worry about the salvage title. But..if you ever go to sell it the buyer may question it. This board has a lot of resources to determine if it is in fact a true SS.

The salvage title is usually no big deal as long as it has it's original VIN. It's way worse if they have a "State ID" number, in which case the original VIN is removed. Some states like Wyoming don't even aknowledge salvage titles so if you moved there and registered the car there then you would get a normal title for it. I think most people in this hobby wouldn't be concerned and how many of these cars have never been wrecked at some point anyway?
