I'm in a pinch, and need to come up with a 454 flywheel on the cheap. Ive seen this work in sbc applications, but wonder if my oem clutch and pressure plate will fit on here?
I forgot that 454's were externally balanced, and this flywheel I got from a bbc, to put on my SBC when I did my 4 speed swap was from a 396.

You have to have an externally balanced flywheel on a stock 454 crank. I have heard of a separate counter balance weight which can be installed between the crank flange and the flywheel to be able to use any SBC or 396 wheel. Check with Summit or JEGS.

I'm aware of all that, but want to know if anyone has used a flywheel that came out of a boat(454) for this.
I'm leery of that balance weight, and I would much rather have an oem GM part.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you have, or what you need.
You say you need a 454 flywheel, but in the same breath, you talk about a SB and a 396.
What do you have, and what do you need????

I NEED a 454 flywheel. I currently HAVE a 396 flywheel on my 350. I am swapping my 350 out to put a 454 in. Hopefully that clears my ramblings up. :)
