For you guys that Have Harrison radiators under the hood , and need to keep them there for original factory looks .

You may find this interesting ...my newly formed affiliation with Robert Haggerty of Classic Radiator Restorations has taught me a thing or two about Brass copper rads .
on this link http://www.classicradrestore.com/moreexamples you will see pics of a fairly well maintained 72 Chevelle radiator . but after 36 years of driving before a re-core when
the passenger side tank removed we can see why she's running hot ... tubes with sever scale and some blockage ... it was astounding to see how much sediment was laying in the bottom of the driver side tank .
amazing how much cast iron falls of the inside of the block and is floating around in the cooling system .. eventually plugging up tubes .
http://www.classicradrestore.com/home.

Rob and I have combined our talents to help those in need with solutions to the over heating conditions ...so for those of you that are looking for a complete Restoration of there Harrison radiators ...feel free to Give Rob a call for questions and concerns . ph 810-227-4380

Rob informed me of a little known fact that a 3 row radiator can be made to re-cored into 4 row with the same headers and tanks as the 3 row with a special designed core he has produced using your correct Harrison radiator channels .. this may be of interest to some of you , so you don’t have to search for a 4 row .

I had a 4 core radiator made a few years ago using my 3 core tanks, had it done at a local shop it came out nice.

We have a great radiator guy here in town. He quoted me $200 for a three core re-core.

Id like to see a REAL comparison between a brass four core and an aluminum 'equivilant'. How about it Don? Real world testing.....Big block car in traffic on a hot day?

Here is a post from another team member .. for real world stat's

I installed an Alumitech radiator in my '70 454. I replaced a Harrison 4 core. In the process, I replaced the water pump, t-stat, & hoses.

Previously, the car would run 200 on the highway, 210 with the AC on. In traffic it would heat up to 220, sometimes a little higher.

I ran the car today in the garage while I got the engine warmed up. The t-stat opened at 160 as it should. While gettin' up to pressure , it ran 165. I took it for a drive in low 90 degree weather in Houston. The temp stayed at 170-175. While sitting in light traffic at a light, the temp rose to 180-185. As soon as I was up to 30 mph, it started to come back down. Back on the highway, it was down to 170-175. That's a big improvement. I have a mechanical fan and a small shroud. I will soon be replacing the fan and shroud with electric fans from a Windstar.

I must say I am impressed with the improvement. 40-50 degree drop in traffic, 30 degrees on highway. I am making a road trip this next weekend in the 'Velle, so I will be able to get more info on the swap.

The comparison became invalid when the water pump, thermostat and hoses were changed. Not saying it wasn't the radiator, just trying to be most correct. I'm in nuclear R&D, so excuse me ;)
