I have a 64 El-Camino with a 327 with a th 350 trans. I want to put a 427 in. Does any one have any info as to what parts I will need to swap?

Thanks

mainly just engine accessories, like brackets and pulleys. you'll need to swap out the front coils most likely. unless you are going with an aluminum head/ intake/ mini starter/ etc... 427, then you might be okay. a few small items like your throttle cable and what not. probably need a bigger radiator. my advice would be to find a BB with all the goodies still attached for the swap.

thanks for the reply. Any recomendations on springs? A guy at work swears my th 350 trans wont bolt up. Is he full of it?

Unless it has a BOP bolt pattern, a TH350 will bolt right up. Bet your coworker $20 that it will. Easy money. I'll even send you a pic of my 396 sitting on a dolly with a TH350 bolted to it in case he wants proof.
:D:beers:

I just swapped the 350 out of my wifes truck. Now it has a 454. It dropped right in on the same motor mounts and bolted to the same transmission. I had to re-do the exhaust because I used car headers on the small block and truck headers on the big block. The collector flanges had to come down and forward for the big block headers. Other than that, it was clean and easy. The only thing you may have to worry about other than the accessories, is the oil pan. The 64 crossmember doesn't allow for a huge oil pan. If you have a truck pan (6 or 7 qt.) it may not clear.

I did the same type of swap from 350 to 396 in my old 69 Chevelle. No issues there, either. Dropped in on the same mounts and bolted to the same transmission. And that had the 307 frame stands in it. I just used the Moroso solid mounts. No problems. Dropped right in.
