i have a few questions regarding my tach playback. launching the car at 1500, the tach needle moves very quickly to about 4500 then slows its rate and climes to 6200 to the shift point. it drops to 5500 and climbs back to 6200 again and falls back to 5500 and crosses the stipe at 5800. is the 4500 the flash of the converter? or the 5500? if 4500 is the flash point would more converter produce better results? my peak tq is at 5000. second question. would dropping the 1-2 shift point back so that the shift recovery was closer to my 5000 peak tq produce better results? 4500rpms should be your flash stall point.

I think you are pretty close on converter selection. I've read that anywhere from 500 rpms below, up to the torque peak is the best. If you wanted max E.T., you could see about getting your current converter tweaked a smidge. However, maybe you'll get some more experienced guys in here to chime in.

Play with your shift points and see what happens. What is your HP peak? Have you had the engine dynoed?
