Depends on the cam you have, the head flow etc.
In a combo that can use the extra lift & added flow area they should help.
Very combination specific.
Seat timing won't change but you will gain a little timing at .050, 100, .200 etc AT THE VALVE.
I used them on a 489 with AFR 315 heads on the intake & picked up around 10 hp lost nothing anywhere but these heads like lift.
You are essentially making the engine see a more "intense" or "aggressive" cam.
All you can do is try them but don't expect any "magical 50HP" :D
Also, be sure you have room for the extra lift at the spring, guide, piston etc.
If this is a solid you want to adj the lash slightly looser so the cam "sees" the same lash.
(Lash/1.7*1.8) will give you your new lash
