I have a set of camel hump heads here that are casting # 3917291.According to Mortec, they're '67-'68,with 64cc chambers. No acc bolt holes. While I realize there's better performance heads available, what's a fair price to ask for these things if someone wanted to do a 'numbers correct' project? These things came off my friends boat recentley,as we went to Vortecs. No cracks.

Yeah one more reason for somone not to even bother restoring a car factory original unless they have all the original parts and the cars documented and they have the protect-o-plate, its just not worth it to me

That term "invested" cracks me up. Who in H invests in old iron heads? People invest in Mexican Strats too.

the 291 are suposed to be one of the best old camel hump heads.

Nothing wrong with a Jap Strat, or a Mexican Strat. My #1 guitar is a Jap fake Strat, and I love it - has a better neck than any American Fender I've ever owned. I changed the pick-ups and hardware, but don't consider that as investing in the guitar.

Everywhere you look - $ invested in a gun, boat, car, guitar, amp, engine...

People don't invest in that stuff, they buy it to have fun with, but, when it's time to sell they talk about how much they have invested.

Heres my combo in my street rod.
355,2-bolt block, stock crank, rods & Silvolite pistons.Milodon single idler gear drive,Edelbrock Perf-RPM,2 inch 4-hole spacer,76cc heads,Comp 268h,Childs & Albert full roller rockers,headers,600 Edelbrock carb.If I switch over to the 64cc chambered heads described above, will I really notice the difference in power with the added compression?,,Throttle response?I'll probably use the regular Fel-Pro blue head gaskets. The car runs good the way it is,but Ive always wanted a set of those early heads on *something* I drive! Also, will those early heads accept regular tapered seat spark plugs? They have the gasketed type in there now.
Thanks. graemlins/beers.gif

Even though they are not the greatest heads out there you should still pick up a bit. This is due to the combustion chamber shape and the added compression.

This is also assuming that both sets of heads have equal sized valves.
You might need to get a larger cam to ward off detonation.Maby get the 270 Magnum.

Those stock open chamber heads have lousey combustion chambers. They flow ok,the combustion chamber shape is where they really loose out.
