Any of you use your GMC/Silverado 1500 Extended Cab truck to drive around your kids that are still in car seats? I don't have kids and none on the way, but was wondering if my '05 GMC 1500 Ext. Cab will even work for carting around kids in car seats?
Thanks, Alan

Dont know why it wouldnt - theres a back seat and seat belts. Aint that all you need or do you have to have the little attachment deals on the rear deck of a car that I see sometimes?
Nothing in your manual? Usually theres stuff in there about car seats and such but, well, you know....I dont have a reason to look unless I finally locate a very friendly midget that wants to roll with me.

MY friend had three kids in car seats in the back of his for years then they got older and he thought those days where over but low and behold another baby came he got sent to gremany and had to buy two more car seats as his kids were under age and weight limits over seas so had to be in car seats on auto bond lol so guess what a 7yrold a 6 yrold and a 1yrold all in car seats two older kids in car seats and one 11yrold laughing all the way lol in back seat and baby in front. his truck was a two door no fancy third or fourth short door just plain old extended cab so you should be fine.

The owners manual shows how to secure the car seat. Sort of glanced at it, but haven't studied it. My mom commented this weekend that she didn't think my niece's car seat wouldn't fit (I guess it's a fairly big car seat). [I keep telling her how I plan to use the Sierra as a family vehicle]. So, I wanted to see if anybody could shed some real experience on this.
I thought the little metal hook things back there were for securing parts, but I guess they're for car seats. lol

I have a 99 Silverado extended cab and I have had car seats in that as well as the 96 extended cab I had. Typically the much larger infant seat went in the middle in the back due to space as well as ease of putting my child in the seat and buckling. My kids are old enough now that my son uses a seatbelt and my daughter uses a booster. 3rd child will be here any day now and the base will go in the middle again.

I have an '03 silverado extended cab...no real problems with 2 full size car seats in the back, other than the kids kicking my seat! the little metal hooks are used to restrain the top/head area of the seat, makes it somewhat easier to install.
my oldest is now in a booster seat.
its always a bit of a challenge in parking lots...after you have managed to navigate into one of those tiny parking spots, courtesy of that 'really great' turning radius that GM trucks are known for...then the suicide door opening fun with the kids...always a treat.

Had a 00 Sierra EXT cab. I found I had to put the infant carrier in the middle. This allowed me to keep the front seats where I wanted and the carrier just stuck up between the seat. When the boys went to the bigger car seats I had one on the drivers side and the carrier in the middle. Finally went to booster on the drivers side and large car seat in middle. This worked good because I still had 1/3 of a rear seat to put stuff on if needed (groceries etc). The truck was falling apart so recently got an 08 Silverado Crew Cab. I like this one alot so far. Hope this helps.
