I am changing the color of the interior in my '71 from tan to black. I know that landau black is what should be used on the dash pad, but what I need to know is what others use for the other plastic trim pieces? Should I use the same color or a different type of black. Any and all input is greatly appreciated. I plan on using SEM paints for this project.

I just changed by Blue interior to black. The dash/instrument panel I used Duplicolor Vinyl/ interior dye. Then I bought a fine and medium silver paint pen from Hobby lobby in the model car section. I used the fine pen on all the lettering and a medium on all the outlining. It worked really well. I did the kick panels the same. Then a day later I covered them in Krylon "matte" clear. I used two light coats. I am using Krylon Semi Gloss on the glove compartment and console tonight. I did not use an adhesive promoter on the dash panel or kick boards but bought some and plan on using it for the glove compartment and console. Even though everything turned out great I may redo the dash and kick panels and use the adhesive promoter. Just in case. before I put it back in.
I want a factory look. I am not worried about if it is exact.

Does anyone else have any input? I could really use it.
Thanks!

Don't do it! I, for one, am tired of all the cars having black interior. I like red and tan interiors the best, even blue is nice. Must admit green may be hard to live with.

Wow, you shot my help down. In case you are interested I redid my console last night with the adhesive promotor and Dupli Color Semi Gloss black and Krylon Matte Clear and it turned out perfect this time. I showed my buddy who owns an original 69 SS and he wants me to do his. You already stated you are using SEM products so what other input are you looking for? If it is perfect...its perfect. Doesn't matter if you have done this 200 times or 2 times. Mine is now perfect and buddy seems to think it looks factory original.
