i have front disk and rear drums on my 70 chevy, for some reason i tend to crack front brake pads like crazy, i have tried ceramic and other products but they only last about six months, i also swapped my front rotors for drilled rotors to help dissipate heat, any ideas why they are getting to hot?

What size brakes do you have? If you use them a lot and they're undersized for the horsepower you have and you use them a lot to stop, they may be taking more than they can handle. Also make sure nothing is dragging causing heat when they're not being used. What brand of brake pads are you using?

Is just your pads that are being damaged, what about the rotors? You might have a promblem with your calipers sticking but it could also being influenced by the way you drive the car. Do you accelerate hard and brake hard alot

i think that they are 11 or 11.25, and i just changed tha pads again to autozone brand top ceramic pads.

i was thinking it was the calipers sticking, but i rebuilt them and i have the same problem, the rotors are drilled and have been on for 18 months and are begining to show tiny stress cracks along with groves. and i do brake hard occassionally but in general i am really easy on my brakes.

Doesn't sound like you're abusing the brakes. We all brake hard occasionally. I wonder if the drilled rotors could be a contributing factor. I've read drilled rotors aren't necessary or desirable unless you really give the brakes a workout (road racing, etc.). I would contact the pads' manufacturer for their input.
