Could anyone give me an idea on what kind of gains you typically see from using a vacume pump, and would one benifit a blower moter more than a reg. one

thanks guys

I run a GZ Motorsports vacuum pump on my car. I can't give any specific ET improvement as I also dyno tuned my car and found power there the same winter I installed the pump.

It's generally accepted that most belt driven mechanical vacuum pump setups are worth 20-30 flywheel HP which is about a tenth or so in ET.

I can't comment on blower combinations...no experience there at all.

Greg Zucco brought his Vette into the dyno shop a while ago and tested three of his pumps on his 500+ CID drag motor. I don't recall the numbers exactly but it was in the range of 20 rwhp gained. He was on his way to LA to meet with Joe Sherman to do some engine dyno testing. He offers various sizes of pumps to fit different sized engines. You can get some more info at:

Mike-
What electric pump are you running? I've been looking for one but haven't come up with one yet.

Thanks.

We put one on my son's 540 and it picked up 26 RWHP but the car doesn't seem to be any faster, i don't know what that means.

The one I used came from a mid 80's caddy with a diesel engine. I don't remember the part number, I just asked nicely at the parts counter at the caddy dealership and they helped me out.
