Put a new 19x31 Griffin Aluminum radiator in the other day, and a tranny cooler. Not a bad setup, havent seen it run yet though ;) I just need to do a couple small things. One of them being fill the radiator. Anything special I should use? If so what % of what? graemlins/beers.gif Happy Friday

50% antifreeze and 50% distilled water.

I run 1 gallon of the green stuff and the rest is distilled water.

You only need 1 container of water wetter.

I only did it because till my new 408" SBC was broken in,it was running kinda hot,and the 2nd bottle helped to keep it under 200 degrees till the rings were seated. Then it actually ran to cool.

If you are using a 50/50 mix of antifreeze/water what benefit will Water Wetter provide?

I put mine together with 50/50 mix antifreeze and good old fashioned well water. Not one heating/cooling problem.

the water wetter screws with the surface tension of the water, allowing it to soak up more heat and shed it faster out of the radiator.
the green antifreeze does 6 things
1)reduces the ability of water to absorb and conduct heat. less is better if you can get away with it
2)lowers the freezing point of the water
3)raises the boiling point of the water
4)lubes the water pump bearings
5)inhibits corrosion, especially in cooling systems with different metals
and finally
6)lightens you wallet. the cheap stuff is just about $6 A GALLON around here. insane.

I was reading on "Stewart's" site before I bought my Stage 2 pump. Their site says, " If freezing is not a concern we recommend water with a corrosion inhibitor. If freezing is a concern, use the proper amount of antifreeze required for your climate."
