finally got my car to the track . i have previously run a best of 11.21 at 121.2 mph with my 4/ speed 68 ss chevelle.i was running a nicely ported set of 215's oval ports with 2.25 1.88 valves. i changed to the brodix race rites (purchased from wolfplace thanks mike). i went from 10.4 compression to 10.0
my old cranking compression was 195 now its 175. so even though the car felt much stronger on the street , i was concerned about the track. well this combo rocks! i ran a best of 11.10 at 123.3 mph! i know i now have a 10 second car ,please keep in mind this is with a 4 speed crashbox. my 60 ft was a 1.68 on this run. i can clearly say with apples to apples comparison that the brodix race rites make more power than the 215's i replaced them with. same cam grind, gear, etc. also at the big end the car pulls so hard it's hard for me to stop the car.(power drums all around). to me the heads work every bit as well as i would have expected. a bit more tweaking and i feel 125 mph is a realistic goal. thanks guys . 4 speed is still alive!

Nice run! What kind of intake and cam you run? What is your opinion on the overall quality of these heads? Did you buy them bare or complete?

Damn that is awesome. Im impressed with the times from a 4 speed. Do you know how well your ported 215s flowed?

I highly recommend doing a brake upgrade. Not too safe having all the power in the world if u cant stop it.

Ray, you finally got to the track!! graemlins/hurray.gif
I've been waiting all summer for that. Congrats on the new best and also not breaking the stick. Refresh my memory again on the cam. 288/296 solid? Not a roller, correct?
Keep up the good work. Very impressive 4-speed car.

fat mat, i run a lunati(1 of harolds old ud grinds) flat tappet solid cam 288/296 .612/.630
255/263 110 lsa installed at 104. lashed at .o25 hot. intake is a fully ported victor jr, with a 1" spacer and a hp 950 carb. ken the car weighs 3700 with me in it, no cage and the alum heads help save a bit of weight , i'm a small guy (150 lbs). hey jim , iv'e had so many problems with the car this yr , even my old hei coil went bad, i went to the track last week and the car woul'dnt even pull to 4500 rpms, i only went 12.20 at 115mph, so i bought a mes dist from a friend , curved it, installed it, and went back
yesterday. it pulled so hard i could not really get it to hook with 14 psi in the slicks,(the old 215's i would pick up the front wheels with 14 psi). i was afraid if i ran 12 psi i would break something so i conceeded the et just to make sure the mph was there.the overall quality of the racerites is very nice. they gave me a little more spring pressure than requested , but i should have checked before install. i did get the cnc chamber option, and had them angle milled to 108 cc, so i would'nt have to change pistons(only 16cc dome volume). the machine work on these heads is excellent , also with the cnc chambers ,they also pocket port the bowels, do the short turn, and go 2" or so into the intake ports. nice valves with 11/32 stems ,serdi multi angle valve job, all comp hardware. my 215's flowed very well , suprisingly they flowed just as much on the exaust side as the brodix heads.
they were no slugs either i did go 121.2 mph with those heads.

no cage and the alum heads help save a bit of weight

You'd probably be quicker with a cage.

Hi Bill, Just looked at your link graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Are you aware your heat shields are on upside down?
They are supposed to be installed over the boot from the plug end & the little ring is supposed to go in front of the sparkplug boot to keep them from sliding up the wire. ;)
