Just to let you all know that Dart has new small blocks coming out.

They will be 4.000 and 4.125 inch bores with the 350 main bores. They will probbaly cost about one half the price of there race blocks.

They will also be entering the engine building business with both short blocks and long blocks.

This is good for customers needing some good cores not for racing. Also would not be surprised to see the big blocks following sometime later.

Info is correct so far, unless some "major" event cause another plan at Dart!

The blocks' bores will be 4.000" and 4.125" (both undersized from Dart), they will use (5) 2.000" cam bearings, have "blind" head bolt holes, .625" thick decks, and be recommended for "Special High Performance" applications.

They will have main caps 1-5 will have 7/16" fasteners with the outer fasteners on the center 3 being 3/8" splayed.

Wet or dry sump options and "priority-main" oiling.

Most all of the SB components will be able to be maintained, oil pump, pan, oil pump drive, timing cover, etc.

Shipping weight approx 175#.

Thanks, Gary in N.Y.

P.S. The part numbers from Dart are DT311-611-11 (4.000") and DT311-612-11 (4.125") and not sure when they will be available. Price should be in the $1450.00 range or thereabouts!

Sounds like a good race block to me. Any chance on getting a variance at the main caps?

I have seen an rfq for the machining of main caps for their LS blocks and hear that they want
to outsource all main cap machining operations to a local vendor. I have not seen anything
relative to these new blocks. Interesting though.

yeah they should clean house. Way cheaper and better to go this route than to dump money into a 400 chevy block. I wonder if gm will try to compete with this block if it comes out? that would be cool.

Hi nakamura, not going to be available, no "variances", strictly 350" SB mains with 2 pc. rear main seal!

But "things" have been known to change!!

I do have a couple more pieces of info to add, there will be "mechanical" fuel pump boss, the caps will be "Class 35 Iron" , "deep-stepped" (no steel-cap option on the drawing board) non-doweled registers (press-fit only), and some minimum .230" thick walls at "max" bore sizes!

Thanks, Gary in N.Y.

P.S. Estimated release date: 1 month approximately (beginning of May 2008)!
