Hi Mike, I am not sure if you seen my post in Engines, but I fired up the new 406 last weekend and broke in the cam. Everything went real good just a leak at the newly installed tranny cooler. It fired up as soon as I hit the starter. Most nerve racking experience in my life. I was shaking so bad I could hardly put the srewdriver on the idle screw. I had the solids set a little too loose also as I had a bit of a tough time getting the feel for the feeler guage under those roller rockers.Anyways, I have 1 more question. I relashed valves and fired it up again with new oil and eos to do another cam breakin run for about 15 minutes until engine was at running temps. Cold oil pressure at about 65 lbs. Brought it back to a hot idle and its about 25lbs. From what I have read this should be ok right. Maybe I wasn't as accurate as I thought with those bearing clearances. :( I was thinking maybe the Isky lifters I got from you might effect the oil pressure a bit as it is another place for oil to go. Would the lifters affect oil pressure at all?
Vacuum is at 12 at an idle of about 850rpm so brakes should be ok. All in all for my first and maybe my last assembly I am wearing a permanent grin :D
The old girl sounds real nice at an idle and I figure those nice lookin little BFG's on the back might be in for a tough time in spring if I get the urge to maybe accelerate a little faster than usual ;)

I want to thank you again and all the other fellas that answered all my sometimes dumb questions during this process. Without everyones help I am not sure I could have accomplished this

Thanks agaian

Hi Jerry,
Congratulations on your first engine, pretty good feelin huh,,, graemlins/beers.gif

And you are welcome for whatever help we could offer.

25lbs at idle is plenty & yes, the lifters will lower low speed & idle pressure.
This is an application where a hi volume pump is a pretty good idea in my opinion.

And just for info I get the same feeling every time I stick a new one on the dyno for the first few pulls,, always got my finger on the "off switch" :D
Don't really know why, if it comes apart the damn off switch ain't gonna do much good
