I've always wondered what the the pros and cons of aluminum heads are. What are the performance gains, how are they to maintain, are they suitable for all applications on the road or track???

Oh no graemlins/clonk.gif Please do a "search" on this topic (and/or oval vs. rectangular ports) before World War III breaks out again.

Yes alum heads transfer heat (power) to the cooling system. Yes they are a bunch lighter (big block). It's your call there are excellent versions of both available.

Aluminum heads take a lot of weight off of the front of the car and they show you spent a lot of money,(intimidation factor).

I ground all the flashing off my 461's and only left the camel hump casting, then had them ceramic coated. Only real car guys know they aren't aluminum.
