I just was given a SM from an 89 NYC Police car. The numbers on the block are 14093638. I have not pulled the pan or anthing yet.
Based on the block casting 14093638...350...87-95...2 or 4...Roller or flat tappet cam, one-piece rear seal. With out tearing this down or pulling the pan is there a way to tell if this is a 4 bolt or that it has roller cam.

If it is a 4 bolt is it worth the build? and if so what kind of combo should be used to get it to around 450-500 hp if possible.

Any discussions on this would be helpful

IMO, even if it's a 2 bolt, you can make 500hp comfortably. I'm 99 percent sure that it's a roller cam, but ain't worth much. You can always put a flat tappet in there or keep to a hyd roller setup. To get the amount of power you want, I'd go with a 383 if it's within the budget.
