I just installed an LS2 in my 67, I was wondering how much room you guys had from the snout on the water pump to the core support. By the way the body is off the car so I have no way of knowing about the trans tunnel yet. I positioned the core support in the correct place and found that I have a little over 6 inches. So in other words I need a radiator and fan combo with a thickness of no more than 6 1/2 inches. I still have time obviously because of the body being off the chassis. Also the motor seems to lean pretty far back, but the trans pan is level. I don't know if this is right either but I guess i'll find out.

Whose mounts are you using? My 64 with LS2 has 9.5" between the water pump pulley and radiator support. However, my frame pads were modded to move the engine 1.5" further back than stock. But even taking away the extra 1.5" I would still have 8" between the pump pulley and radiator support.
I'm using the ATS mounts.

What I remember off the top of my head...
Dont make anything permanent till the body is in place with new rubber (or Poly) mounts and you have your headers installed... You will end up with very tight tolerence by the steering box if I remember correctly... Factory AC on lower pass side will not clear the engine crossmember... tie rods will need to be checked for clearance to the oil pan. Steering should be installed and checked lock to lock. Depending on the transmission the tunnel will need to be modified (or replaced) ...
I plan on an LS2 / T56 in the future as well so I have been reading all the installs on the boards... I have ATS mounts... but I am boxing and bracing my frame first... I will install the body with poly mounts... I will have an ATS oil pan and the slightly smaller LEE built steering box and (not sure which headers) headers all installed first.... I want to make sure everything I choose will fit and clear before final location of the engine towers to the frame.
Remember... 64-67 have smaller trans tunnels then 68-72.... so make sure you compare apples to apples...:D

I used BRP mounts with an LH8 oil pan. All the accessories clear even the AC. I am running a rack and pinion and it clears as well. I am installing the body on Sunday for a mock up fit so I guess we will see. My main concern was the distance from the water pump to the core support. I have a little over 6 inches. I guess tomorrow will tell.

Well I put the body on the chassis today and it fits great. The onlty modification I need to do is to slightly massage the floor pan where the controller from the tran is mounted. Everything else clears fine.

I am doing an LS1 swap with Hooker headers and brp style mounts. I unbolted the frame mounts and moved them where they needed to be and all tol the engine is just under an inch from the firewall on the passenger side head. The headers fit fine however tuck up nice and out of the way. The only interference I had was with the column shift auto which can easily be changed to a console shift or cable shift.

Pete , I have a few inches between the back of the heads and the firewall. If I move the engine back any further it won't clear my rack and pinion and furthermore I would have to do some major mods to the firewall and tunnel. I was probably going to look into a shorty style header instead of a long tube. What do you guys think? I tried to post pics but I am having a problem.

My guess would be you should be fine with the hookers having the engine moved forward a couple more inches than in my setup. However, I can't say certain without taking a closer look at mine. Furtheremore, if I were to do it all over again now I would buy the edelbrock headers anyways since they are cheaper and made of stainless steel as well as being a stepped design. I believe the edelbrock engine mounts place the engine further forward that I have mine also so if it were me I would just go ahead and buy them and give them a shot. They will be more than worth it power and looks wise.
