My shortblock is just about done, and I want to get started on the heads. Got a set of 781's, going to get new seats and guides. I have the matched springs for my cam, but I need to get the valves and seals and locks. Got Kieth Black domed piston's, compression is 10:1. What do I need for a stout street motor as far as valves. Willing to spend some cash as I really want to do this right, but this motor will probably never see the track. Thanks for the advice, Dave.

Dave,
For your situation, any of the "street" stainless valves should be fine. Manley and Ferrea both have excellent low end valves that will live forever and do not cost an arm and a leg. Ask your machine shop about them.

Bill, thanks for the advice. I'll be talking to my machinist later today. Just like to get the opinion of the experts here first, so that I got a clue before I go to the machine shop. :D

For a low rpm torquer, bought some of the Competition products $99 set. this for ovals going on a bigger inch rat, 5400 tops. Used lt.wgt Ferrea in the 427 which sees much more rpms.

The $100 set hasnt been installed. I;'d only be in the least concerned if a heavier spring was used, as in a high lift roller cam. Assuming the stems are sized right ( although new guides are going in) assume the seat will be reground anyway.
