: which door mounted rear veiw mirrors are you using
turbopowered68 Apr 4th, 08, 10:48 PM Which door mounted rear view mirrors are you using.
I picked up a set at the E-town swap meet last year they look great but the passenger side mirror is a POS it does not adjust toward the driver enough for it to be use full.
I MUST have a right side mirror as I will be driving a minimum or 500 miles a month.
If you have pictures please post them up or post links.
On the mirror that I have I was going to have a correct passenger side rear view mirror cut to size then glue it on top of the one that I have.
I will still do this to next set of mirrors I buy.
I hate buying stuff twice.

turbopowered68 Apr 5th, 08, 10:15 PM Wow i am the only one with a right side rear view mirror???????????
Nor Cal Chevelle Apr 6th, 08, 8:04 AM For my 1971, I installed a pair of outside mirrors that I purchased from True Connections (1-800-600-4144). They fit fine.
66ElkyBB Apr 6th, 08, 10:31 AM I installed a pair of "Bowtie" mirrors that fit either side for 66 - 68s from NPD for $26.95 each. Quality is excellent and fit was perfect. Part number is C-10185-1A
turbopowered68 Apr 6th, 08, 11:23 AM this is the mirror that is giving me the problem.

the mirror can not be adjusted any further in toward the Driver to make it use full.

these cost $25.00 each.

I had problems with 3 set of Bowties. When I closed the door the mirror would get out of WAK and it would have to be readjusted.
So this time I tried to go with a slightly larger more functional mirror and instead I went from bad to worst.
doc j Apr 6th, 08, 12:14 PM I have the bullet styled mirrors from a mid 70s Camaro. The right side does not swivel outwards enough for me.
Big White Apr 6th, 08, 1:32 PM I have the same mirror that you have. I had the same problem with the mirror not turning in enough towards the driver. I took a Dremel Mototool and made a little notch so that the mirror stem could move a little farther inward. It didn't take much. Now all that I have to do is figure out how to keep it in adjustment. I probably use a drop of super glue.

Did you do it on the mirror end or the base end?
If you look at the close up picture of the mirror that’s how far in the mirror can go (it doesn't go in any further)
Should the ball on the base rotate also or just the ball on the mirror end?
Big White Apr 6th, 08, 7:47 PM The notch goes on the rectangular frame that the mirror is attached to and only needs to be big enough to clear the stem that the ball is attached to. I took off about 3/32".
BlueSS454 Apr 6th, 08, 7:48 PM I have a right side mirror on my 70. It's the rectangular shaped one. I know it's not correct for a 68, but it works ok for me.
turbopowered68 Apr 6th, 08, 8:48 PM You 69 and up guys have it made because you have no vent window on your doors and your mirror selection is much greater.
Any body have a good set of 69 doors for sale?
i HATE my 68 doors.
I under stand the stem part, but does your mirror rotate at booth ends (mirror and base)?
Les Saville Apr 6th, 08, 10:33 PM Do you have a rectangular mirror on the drivers side? The standard driver and passenger mirrors on 68 were round with no bow-tie. The driver remote rectangular mirror was an option which gave you the option to install a round or rectangular passenger side mirror.
I have a new 68 in the box round non bow-tie mirror if you are interested.

I have the same matching mirror on the drivers’ door.
The round mirrors are too small for my taste that’s why I went with the rectangular mirrors.
68 correct is the least of my concerns. I want/need something functional that looks good.
turbopowered68 Apr 22nd, 08, 7:07 PM I am considering these

what do you guys think
turbopowered68 Jun 23rd, 08, 8:34 AM I sortta fixed my pass. mirror issue
I picked up a Pass. Mirror for a van at Pep boys then I took it to a glass shop and had it cut to fit right on top of the existing mirror.
Now I have the correct wider angle view and you can't tell it’s a rigged set up
