I tried the search and can't seem to find the thread. Maybe I'm wrong and it wasn't on TC.
It was by a guy that explained in detail how to make shorter shift levers for the transmission for a shorter throw!
Anyone remember or know of this? I'd be very thankful for the help!:)

I think it mite have been me?? Here is the question and here is my rsponse.
The shifter dogs as they are referred to have two holes in them from the factory.
Use the lower holes. The pattern it changes is unbelievable
I used some stock muncie dogs from chevrolet when I was a kid with a 15 inch stick with two holes no bushings . I could pull a gear hard enough.
I had to have a special plate made using mine for a pattern out of stainless.
I never pulled that one.

Here is the quote I think you are looking for

Hello all,

I'm going to be installing an M-21 Muncie in my 66 soon and I have a question about shifter rods.

I have a Hurst Competition Plus shifter that I took off of a Saginaw 4 speed that's lying in the garage floor. I installed the shifter on the Muncie and noticed that the shifter rods from the saginaw will not work.

I've been looking through Ground Up's catalog and noticed various shifter rod kits. They show a Hurst 4 speed installation kit (part no. FHI-1) as well as a "Muncie Linkage Kit" (part no. FZ-372 - http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mv...ct_Code=FZ-372 (http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=chevellecamino&Product_Code=FZ-372)).

Will the Muncie Linkage Kit work with the Competition Plus shifter, or will I need to use the FHI-1 Hurst kit? There's a significant price difference and I would rather purchase the 69.95 rods as opposed to the 129.95 Hurst kit IF they will work.

Long story short, what rods can be used on an M-21 with a Competition Plus shifter?

Thanks in advance.:beers:
I love the 69.95 special for the two hole dogs use the lower hole and you talk about a short throw. You will love it
