: Engine callout "stickers" versus emblems???
1966_L78 Apr 4th, 08, 2:55 PM Opinions on how these might look?

My '70 is not going to be black though... Probably Bright Blue or lighter Green... maybe Silver... God only knows what color, and when that will be...
I like the "427" emblems, and with the 427 Small Block in my 70, I think they'd look great...
BUT, I am a cheapskate (:D) and trying to stay on a tight budget; The GM emblems are around $130/pair (they are for the newer Z06 Corvette with the 427)...
Anyway, I found a company that makes colored "inserts" for those emblems (GM emblems only come in Red)...
I thought about just buying the inserts ($13 for a set of 3), and then sticking them to my car... So essentially they'd be smaller, and have no chrome...
I was thinking placement similar to an SS (like that El Camino), with the 3rd sticker maybe on the trunklid, in place of the "Chevelle by Chevrolet" emblem...
Just trying to decide if this MIGHT look good, or its its just gonna look like some dorky poser :p
Or
should I run NO emblems at all (shaving all the stock emblems and Malibu trim anyway)
OR
Just buy the GM emblems...
I'm Bored today :D
tunes Apr 4th, 08, 5:16 PM If you are taking all the other emblems and trim off, I would not put the 427 emblems on.
daveseitz Apr 4th, 08, 7:01 PM Is that Keiths old car?
Alwhite00 Apr 4th, 08, 8:05 PM Here's some chrome emblems that are cheaper.http://chromeemblems.com/ind-letters-numbers.aspx Also, You could go to a sign shop & have them cut out decals with your choice of color & font for probably under $20.00

tunedbytad Apr 7th, 08, 11:38 PM I have been thinking about making custom emblems for were el camino goes on the hood.
I would like to have "Rosie" in a cursive italic font like it was made that way from the factory.
-carve a mold pour plastic then have it chromed???
-make it out of soft metal by hand carving???
72Sprint Apr 8th, 08, 8:39 AM I've still got my original 350 grille emblem. Why advertise? ;)

how about one of those "waterjet" places? Or they have those plasma cutters for doing arts&craft stuff?
I looked at those "chrome emblems" on the internet, but not the style I'd want... I want something that looks "classic" GM...
I am not building a sleeper, and I think I'd kind of like the notoriety...
vrooom3440 Apr 9th, 08, 2:49 AM I always wondered about making up a master in, say wood, and using it to form a sand mold. Then cast aluminum in the mold. Remove and polish.

I dont see why not!
HerrKooled Apr 9th, 08, 3:41 AM correct me if i am wrong, but i believe the GMC Sprint SP (Special Performance - Invader 454 LS5) did, or planned to have SP decal/graphics, not emblems on it's rear 1/4s. i think it looked good, although i would not reccomend it for an engine callout.
vrooom3440 Apr 9th, 08, 12:31 PM Then there is always the stencil and paint approach... how are you with an air brush?
daveseitz Apr 12th, 08, 11:05 AM It would be easier to mill the thing out of Aluminum and have it plated. way faster and cheaper as well.
Swing by a VoTec that has a machine trades class, ask the instructor about having a set made. A "Donation" to the program will help get it done sooner.
chuckd71 Oct 15th, 10, 4:59 AM Old thread, but better than starting a new one I figure. Anyway, what do you guys think about these:
Sticker- http://rover.ebay.com/ar/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?mpt=1699189756&adtype=1&size=1x1&type=3&campid=5336121898&toolid=10001 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/6-0L-VORTEC-HOOD-emblem-decals-Chevy-Silverado-2500-HD-/260600742087?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_100&hash=item3cad03c0c7
Or emblems- http://rover.ebay.com/ar/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?mpt=1824700480&adtype=1&size=1x1&type=3&campid=5336121898&toolid=10001 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-08-09-PONTIAC-G8-L76-6-0L-ENGINE-BADGE-EMBLEMS-PAIR-/250529228418?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a54b4a682 (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=3&campid=5336121898&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Febaymotors%2F2-08-09-PONTIAC-G8-L76-6-0L-ENGINE-BADGE-EMBLEMS-PAIR-%2F250529228418%3Fpt%3DMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Acce ssories%26hash%3Ditem3a54b4a682)
I plan to get the car painted at some point in the future and like the idea of stickers. Not sure I'm in love with either but the hood one would be something different. Ideally I'd like a better 6.0 quarter emblem. Anybody doing anything similar?
