Hi,
Seems like a simple question, but... how should the spark plug wires be routed to keep them off of the headers? Is there a plastic holder to capture the wires and then attach them to the valve cover screw? A photo would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

There are several ways to retain them. Here's what I use.

head to a junkyard and get the looms off a mid 70's GM car or truck- anything with an HEI distributor and exhaust manifolds that go down around the spark plugs will work. they use little metal tabs that go under the valve cover bolts with plastic wire holders that snap around the wires to hold them in place. if the plastic pieces are bad- which they probably are- then go to your favorite auto parts store and head for the Help! section and buy some replacement looms. also get a set of the universal wire looms they also have in that section to hold the wires together nicely up by the distributor.
your total cash outlay will be about $10 if you have to buy all new clips and they over charge you for them, and it will look stock.
