why?????

Because it looks cool. ;)

Perhaps he's happy with 10's and wants a photo of the car standing up.

try a set of looser shocks on the front or 'the shock nut trick'

are you leaving off a transbrake? what rpm?

Another little trick would be dis-connect the front sway bar. It helps with weight transfer. Also, a higher stahl speed would help. Get the engine spinning when the trans locks in and it'll throw every last pony at the rear wheels all at once. Be careful, however, I did this and had to winch my car back on to the trailer right on the starting line. The front end went up, I heard a big POW!, the engine revved to the moon, and the front end slammed to the ground. The rear end turned into a moracca (sp?)

Put the engine behind the rear axle

So it looks cool, but why do it? When I was racing I wanted the wheels to lift and skim the surface of the track; why waste power lifting and taking a chance of braking something, or worse. Sounds like your setup is correct if your backend is planting (squatting), and your front is just barely lifting to transfer weight just leave it alone and be happy you’re in the tens.

Hey Mike

Welcome to TC, most of the hardcore racers on TC congregate in the Performance forum:

http://www.chevelles.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=13

you might want to ask the question in there, but you will need to add a whole lot more info about how the car is set up currently to get some good detailed answers. good Luck and welcome aboard.

Robert on a small tired car there is some more results to be gained by going up if you have the power and setup to do it. It has been discussed off and on in the performance forum in the past.

True.... I'm just use to dragsters; I use to race one back in the '80 (210 foot) in division 7 and going up almost always ended badly; that’s why I stopped racing because I twisted the frame I didn't have enough weight on the nose, and not enough money for a new frame.:( I just didn't want to see another car go up for the first time, the driver panics, takes his foot of the gas and hits the brakes, and digs the front into the track and ends up in the wall. Now if he installs bars I'm cool with it, but thats not what it sounds like he was planning. He just wants to get "Air".

Short now for a dragster, 210 was standard in the late '80s; what I heard they are approching 320 today. Its really neat to see the frame arch in the middle on the new dragsters... Now thats weight tranfer!!!!:beers::thumbsup: The other pain in the butt is getting the frame certified checking for crack's, etc... required but what a mess esp if you have to remove everything.... Sorry for getting off topic.....

Mike,
I would also suggest becoming a supporting member. Best $20 you can ever spend.

Lots of great information here. I see you signed up Dec 05 and issued 1 post.

It would also help to tell us (or show us via pic) a bit more about your car, location, etc...

Thanks.

A wheelie doesn't make it go any faster so I gotta ask why? Wheelies can be hard on front end parts and guard rails!
