I'm considering buying a set of heads that already have a T & D rocker shaft setup on it.

does anyone know if this setup sits lower that traditional studs and rocker arms? I'd like to run my stock valve covers but don't know if I'll run into clearance problems.

In the past, I've used the Comp, PRO Magnum rollers with absolutely no problem at all, but I'm wondering if i'll have clearance issues.

Also, once a rocker shaft assy is installed, can it be removed and regular studs and guideplates be used, or do heads typically need machining for the rocker shaft setup?

THanks

They are pretty much a bolt on & can be removed as the shaft mount bolts to the rocker holes but on some applications the rocker bosses may have been machined a small amount.
I think you will find they are actually lower as you have no studs or adjusting nuts above the rockers.
The only place you might see an issue is at full lift as there is a nut & adjuster at the back of the rocker.
You will need to get the pushrod length real close as there is very little adjustment.
