: Inner Fender repair
MarkMath Apr 2nd, 08, 12:30 PM I was wondering if inner fenders, where bolts were placed can repaired? The rest of the inners are in really good shape, minus where the bolts went. If it is repairable is it worth it?? I'm trying really hard to keep, to a budget, so if i can save a few bucks...

ssal396 Apr 2nd, 08, 2:18 PM The pic isn't working, but anything can be fixed if you know somebody who welds....(assuming metal inners)
gwizit Apr 2nd, 08, 2:41 PM From what I see in your photo album pictures, if you don't want to spend $200 or so extra - they can be patched.
If it is repairable is it worth it
Thats all up to you and how much time you want to spend repairing them & whats your time worth.
From what I see in your other pictures, your welders going to be your best friend for awhile anyways ...
MarkMath Apr 2nd, 08, 5:44 PM I dont know why the picture didnt turn out. The inner fenders are plastic, has anyone here patched those? What did you use?
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
gwizit Apr 2nd, 08, 6:20 PM Plastic? hmmm
Probably going to be wasting your time trying to fix them
With any stress at all on them, they will probably break back out again - I would think anyways.
Diggin in your pocket for 200 bux will probably be your best bet.
MarkMath Apr 2nd, 08, 11:07 PM Thank you for the reply, your probably right, a few bumps in the road and they'll probably give. From the pics you see, the last few are of a Malibu I just bought, The red chevelle was far to gone to be repaired affordably. So now I have two 72's in my garage, one pissed off wife lol, just need to set up a cot in there and i'm gold!

Good suggestion there.
In the past I have even sandwitched plastic panels between 2 strips of metal, then spot welded the strips together - lasted a little while until it cracked out further :D rough roads or rough driving - never figured it out
69ChevelleMalibuG Apr 4th, 08, 10:58 PM I know the inner fender wells help a little with stability of the fenders, and support the battery, but are they a must have? Can u run w/out the inner fender wells on a daily driver?
MarkMath Apr 12th, 08, 11:18 AM A little update of what i've done. I decided that, it maybe worth trying a quick repair, and if it fails, i'll replace the inner fenders. I bought Dynatron, a flexible bumper repair kit, I used fiberglass mesh, rolled it around the damaged area and applied the product, sanded it down, so far it looks not to bad. cost was 20 dollars for the two tubes that covered both inners (damaged area's).
