Freiburger Oct 29th, 03, 5:33 PM Only one Chevelle entry so far, and it's in the 11s with no roll bar so it can't race. So where are the rest of you fast guys?

fatrat70 Oct 29th, 03, 6:03 PM If you think 10.20s-30s n/a will cut it against all the spray, blowers and turbos then sign me up :D .I'm thinking the majority will be running sub 9 seconds.
Nickel333 Oct 29th, 03, 6:36 PM Well i have to say i like concept but honestly Dave, there probably at home cause they dont have $10,000 for twin turbos, and most guys just cant compete with that, you may as well call it...
"Hot Rod's rich boy Twin Turbo, had my motor built by somone else, hell my whole car for that matter because i can because im rich pump gas drags" Sorry but i have a feeling its all going to come back to the almighty dollar like it allways does. You should AT LEAST have 2 classes, 1.Natural asperation and 2.Power Adder, this would make things more competitive and give us "less fortunate" guys somthing to read thats of value and interest. Dont take this as an insult, like i said i love the idea, and im glad that somone is doing somthing like this but i just dont like the rules.
Rad Racer Oct 29th, 03, 6:41 PM Not that it really matters. So you can only afford to go 10's N/A? You think that will help you compete against the guy running 9's N/A because he had more money for a 632? Racing and winning comes down to money. There is no way around it. They could race go carts/bicycles/lawn mowers/hondas/anything and it won't matter. 9 times out of 10 the winner will be the one with the deepest pockets.
fatrat70 Oct 29th, 03, 6:44 PM Exactly !!!
10secBu Oct 29th, 03, 7:03 PM I don't really care if I'm not the fastest there. I don't care if I'm the slowest there...my application is going out tomorrow...keep an eye out for it David!
Mine will be the aquamarine colored bbc powered '79 Malibu with Convo-Pro wheels running on BFG drag radials.
kjett Oct 29th, 03, 7:10 PM If you'll have a class for fastest Regal Red 66 Chevelle, with black interior, 454, auto, 4.11 gear pump gas ride then I'll enter my high 10 second ride smile.gif Having just come back from the Bristol Bash and being on the bump in first round of Quick 16 qualifying with a 10.91@124 I'm not hopeful I would stand a chance at Memphis graemlins/sad.gif I'm sure it will be a fun event, but as others have said the super cube/power adder cars put the event out of reach for most on this board. Except for maybe Ryan....Pssst. Oh Ryan, where are you Ryan....

-SS454- Oct 31st, 03, 8:19 PM It seems many of you guys are forgetting the awards for fastest or most street legit 8, 9, 10, and 11 second cars. So even though your 10 or 11 second car wont stand a chance at getting the overall top honors. I think it'd be pretty darn cool to be the fastest 10 second car, or the most streetable 11 second, or whatever.

I know I'm no threat, but just to be chosen would be a big honor...my application is in...just gotta wait now.
There also giving awards for best normally aspirated as well as best drag radial cars.
DragRacer Nov 1st, 03, 2:46 AM Way to go Todd!!!! Hope you make it. Should be a fun event - win, lose, or draw.
Freiburger Nov 10th, 03, 7:40 PM We got the application for 10SecBu--very cool. Anyone else?

70_FathomBlueMalibu Nov 11th, 03, 1:25 AM Is this in Memphis? If so, what is the date and time? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, is this open to spectators? I'm about an hour west of Memphis and would love to give any and all TC'ers a hand if I'm able. graemlins/beers.gif

DF Well, I'm defrosting my big blue lump and packing my bags - gonna throw in an entry if Mr.Freiburger will have me. (It's only 2140 miles each way.)
It won't be the fastest but I'll try to represent Team Chevelle.
If by luck nobody else shows up and I win...
BLAME CANADA!
P.S. I won't bring any BSE burgers with me.
Ok, now where the hell am I going to get a trailer??? :D
540Hotrod Dec 31st, 03, 4:48 PM Ok..anyone know what the newest NHRA rules are for a convertible?
Hey, DF....I'd love to give it a try with my '67 Vette. It has a pump gas 540, a Doug Nash 5 speed, 3.07 gears and will drive anywhere. It also has a custom built Dana 60 IRS setup under that hopefully has eliminated breakage stuff. Looks stock...goes fast!
Can I get by with a 6 pt bar of some sort (man I hate to do this!) Are we going to have to have NHRA licenses if we go faster than 135 mph or get into the 9's? Will it disqualify us if we don't?
So far I have only a few passes on it since I only get one run before being sent home or I have to go a couple of hundred miles to a non sanctioned track.
Let me work on the details....it will be the blue '67 with a white top!
JIM
66 283 Dec 31st, 03, 5:47 PM It's pretty safe to say that they have to abide by NHRA rules for the track's insurance purposes.
Post a picture of that car - sounds nice!
