I am putting Airride Tech kit on a 1970 Chevelle
I wanna run a 20 in the back. What is the widest 20 I can run ?
I am also ordering a 12 bolt from Moser
I plan on ordering it narrowed 2" on each side
Anyone have any pics of others like this ??

BEFORE you go and order that 12-bolt, I'd find what wheels you want, and make sure you know what Back Spacing those wheels are available in...

narrowing the rearend that much will necessitate "deep" wheels... Most newer wheels are made for newer cars, which usually run LESS depth on the wheels...

Narrowing the rearend housing will do absolutely nothing otherwise for fitting larger wheels/tires...

What Tony said...and keep in mind that if you narrow the rear end too much, run disk brakes on the back, and plan on "dumping" the car on the ground when you park it you can smack the calipers into the frame with too-narrow of a rear end.

I would have Moser put 67 axel tubes .. in the end this will be more like an inch narrower and will allow you for a deeper lip (won't change the size of wheel just the ability to have less backspace). Then springs/shocks all mount correctly and you won't have the caliper issue which will happen if you start narrowing beyond an inch (perhaps you want drums). Then you can use a 5" or 4-3/4" back space on a 10/10 inch rim and let the width be visible on the outer lip. A 295 tire should be plenty wide .. and the thicker the outer lip the wider the rim looks.

I am going down this pathnow.

Only do it if you REALLY want less backspacing!!!!

It is not trivial or cheap.

Not only do the calipers/emergency brake assemblies get into the frame, they also get into the shock mount.

But I don't mind,it will have big ford ends and 12 inch disc brakes with Ebrakes, plus I will be happier with my car when I am done, - which sometimes is more important that how many G's you can pull.

Plus as everyone knows, I love them deep wheels!

I just ordered 20x10 for my 70 and it sits very low in the rear. I should have them in a couple of weeks, hopefully and I can get you some pictures
