ive been dealing with my 1-2 shift. every time i run the car i hit the 6400 chip on the 1-2 shift. ive been setting the shift light lower and lower to make up for it. im now at 5500 still hitting the chip. the last 2 runs i made last night i noticed when i made the shift, there was a lag between the shifter being moved and the tranny finaly making the shift. the trans has 22 runs and about 400 street miles. im using an old quick silver shifter that works fine driving on the street. the trans dosent feel like its slipping into 2nd just a delayed shift. 60' is 1.56 so i dont think its slipping. any ideas what this might be? if i can stay off the limiter there may be some et here thanks Dave

just a thought what about the governor was it played with...to light of springs will make the shifting happen later.....when i was messing with mine i put to light of springs in it and it wouldnt shift under full throttle even at 7000 rpms.......i changed them out and played with it till it was shifting where i wanted the tranny at. i could leave mine in drive and it would shift 6800 out of first and 6400 out of second..........

Does it still use the pump to shift? Or is it a full manual Valve Body?
When it spins up to the limiter in 2nd, what do you have to do to get the tranny into 2nd?
Similiar thing happened when my Intermidiate Sprag went out. Any time I shiftes 1-2 above 4,500 RPM, it woul djust sit and spin. I"d have to come below 3000 RPM for it to catch and engauge... or just go to 3rd. Finally, 2nd gear went all together, and I had a 2-speed car. graemlins/sad.gif
Do a search for "Sprag", and you may find some like cases to yours. Or, you just have a lack fo pressure from a bad pump.
How does the 2-3 shift do?

its a full manual shift valve body. it reallt doent feel like its slipping, just a lag between me moving the shift lever and finally going into gear. im gona call my tranny guy tomarrow and ger his take on it
