$25k seems very high for this, I know the production of 659 is wrong. It looks to need everything even though it is #s matching.

Ya the 659 produced apears to be wrong, but still 2,286 according to Dales' charts isn't bad either.

Have to agree though, $25K just too get started - WOW! Here I plan on having my 68 Post done for less than 7K (doing all work myself - of course)

I know some people will disagree with me, but BJ has done this to collector car market. Every Joe Blow with a rustbucket sitting in the backyard thinks his car is worth 100k. I had a chance to buy a 68SS numbers convertible car in 10 foot paint in running driving condition 2 years ago for 13.5K. If this is where the prices are realistically for junk like that, I'm gonna go slice my wrists.

You're missing the drugs. BJ might have put them up there, but after last weekend, it brought them back down. Based on BJ at Palm, you would never recover the restoration costs. Not even close.

Well ..... Not everyone with a rust bucket thinks his car is worth 100K
Only paid $500 for mine & figure it won't be worth much even after I restore it.
Why I only plan to spend $6500 for the process without going overboard, and have No plans too sell it.

you guys are being a little harsh on bj, a person who already owns a classic muscle car appreciates the high prices. and a person who is wanting one needs to do their homework before shelling out a lot of money. i bet if all the haters out there found a orig motor and tranny bigblock car under their christmas tree that they then would appreciate the high prices too. i agree that 25,000 for a starter car is a lot of money, but if it never sells then the guy stuck with the rusted hunk of junk will then realize that he wasn't as smart as he thought. just think another born with ss in the graveyard, that means that mine is more rare. kewl:D:yes: barret jackson is just a place where you can sell, and buy a car that you have always wanted.

I do agree with you BJ is where the cars are sold and it is a live broadcast, the other big classic car auctions would get slammed to if it was broadcasted over tv.
BJ dont put the prices on the cars, the buyers with the deep pockets are the ones bringing the prices up.

The 659 number comes from Dan Carr's poster of 68-72 Chevelles. Dan's poster calculates the statistical probablility of engine/trans combinations in the body styles. Sadly, people take those numbers as actual production quantities. The mind sees what it wants to see.
